Generative AI Use

Authors must disclose any usage of artificial intelligence (AI) or AI-assisted tools in the creation of their work. If generative AI is used to generate text, data, figures, or images, or to help with study design, data collection, analysis, or interpretation. In that case, it must be explicitly indicated in the Methods section. AI-generated photos and videos are not permitted due to unresolved legal and research integrity issues, either obtained from licensed agencies or used explicitly in AI-related content. However, if AI is just employed for basic language editing tasks like grammar, spelling, or formatting, disclosure is unnecessary.

Peer review is an essential component of sustaining scientific integrity, and it should always be carried out by humans. Reviewers should avoid using generative AI or AI-assisted tools to analyse or critique papers, as these techniques can yield inaccurate, incomplete, or biased results. They lack the critical judgment required for the evaluation process. Reviewers accept full responsibility and accountability for the content of their review reports. If AI techniques are used for minimal editing support, this should be clearly stated in the review comments.
